Each year, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s Distance Education Alumni Board provides two $300 scholarships to students in distance education programs. The 2022-23 winners are Courtney Schulz, a graduate student in the online Master of Science in Organizational Change Leadership program, and Callie Weber, an undergraduate student in the online Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program. Weber was also awarded the 2022-23 Ruth Miller Distance Education Challenge Scholarship.
The Distance Education Alumni Board represents the Distance Education Alumni Chapter of the UW-Platteville Alumni Association. The board created its scholarship in 2016 to help provide financial support to distance education students as they complete their degrees.
“The scholarship program is an important part of the Distance Education Chapters' outreach to both current and former students. It provides an opportunity for alumni to support current students while highlighting the important work of the Alumni Association,” said alumnus Joe Roy, who was serving as the board’s vice president when the scholarship was created. Roy earned both his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice (’14) and his Master of Science in Criminal Justice (’16) from UW-Platteville as a distance education student.
The Distance Education Alumni Board is made up of alumni of the university’s distance education programs. Mark Sidote, Master of Science in Project Management (’16), is board president and Shilo Wilkinson, Master of Science in Criminal Justice (’16), serves as vice president.
