Ditch the Dumpster

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville wants to help you reduce waste when you move out of your residence hall. Don't throw it away, donate it!

Each year during finals week, the Office of Sustainability partners with Residence Life, Pioneer Restore, Pioneer Provisions, and Goodwill to keep items out of the landfill.

What we collect

Unwanted Small Items

Please place all unwanted, non-furniture items in the black bins in each residence hall lobby for reuse through donation.

Food

Please place all unwanted non-perishable foods in the blue containers in each residence hall lobby for donation to the on-campus food pantry, Pioneer Provisions.

What we cannot collect

Large items in good condition (i.e. furniture)

Please take these items home with you to continue using.

If you absolutely cannot take them home, please take to one of the many local thrift stores for donation.

Large items in poor conditions

Please take these items home with you. You packed it in, you can pack it out.

Non-electronic items can be put in a dumpster, if they fit.
