Graduation Requirements for the Associate's Degree

To earn an associate's degree, you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Earn a minimum of 62 credits.
  • A minimum of 21 of the 62 credits must be taken under the direction of UW-Platteville faculty.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.

Graduation Requirements for the Bachelor's Degree

To earn a bachelor’s degree, you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Earn a minimum of 120 credits.
  • A minimum of 42 of the 120 credits must be upper division credits (3000 and 4000 level).
  • A minimum of 32 of the 120 credits must be taken under the direction of UW-Platteville faculty.
  • Of the last 32 credits, 23 of them must be taken under the direction of the UW-Platteville faculty.
  • A minimum of 21 credits with the BUSADMIN prefix must be taken under the direction of UW-Platteville faculty.
  • No more than 72 credits may be transferred from any two-year lower-division college.
  • A grade of C- or better must be earned in courses taken with other institutions in order for those courses to be considered for transfer.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 overall, as well as in any minor, must be maintained, and a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher in the major for work from UW-Platteville.
  • Maintain degree progress by completing at least one UW-Platteville course every two years in order to remain under the program catalog requirements. Failure to do so will result in discontinuation from the program.

School of Graduate Studies Requirements

To earn your master’s degree, you must meet the following requirements:

  • All students must complete a minimum of 30 graduate credits.
  • No more than 12 credits may be transferred from an external program, including other UW-Platteville graduate programs.
  • All remaining graduate credits must be earned from UW-Platteville.
  • Courses in the 5000-6000 levels are open to graduate students for graduate credit, provided the courses had not previously been taken at the undergraduate level.
  • Graduate students must maintain a 3.0 grade point average. 
  • Graduate credits in which the student earns a grade lower than C- will not count toward a degree; however, lower grades will be reflected in the student’s grade point average. 
  • Graduate students are allowed seven years from the date of admission into a master's program to complete degree requirements. Extensions may be granted.
  • Transfer of credits requires approval by faculty in the program and the Director of the School of Graduate Studies.
  • Transfer credits will not be officially recorded until the student has successfully completed some graduate work at UW-Platteville, and only courses where the student received a grade of B or higher will be accepted.
