Are you an incoming engineering student looking for a supportive place to live and learn? The Engineering Living Learning Community (LLC) is designed just for you! In this community, you’ll live alongside other students from the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science, making it easy to form study groups, share ideas, and build friendships that last well beyond your first year. The LLC gives students an enhanced ability to build strong personal and academic connections with each other and with faculty and professionals.

The Engineering LLC is for first- or second-year students who are in the College of EMS and is located in Dobson Hall.

Eligibility

To join the Engineering LLC, students must be incoming freshman, sophomore, or first-year transfer students at the beginning of the fall term. Students must be in the College of EMS to join.

Benefits

Members of the Engineering LLC are given many unique opportunities, such as:

  • Enhanced academic and social opportunities.
  • Support to ease your transition to college, discover campus resources, and seeking advice when needed.
  • Greater involvement in learning.
  • Friendships with classmates who may share classes and academic programs.

Events

Events for the Engineering LLC are designed to build connections between members and help members grow personally and professionally. These may include:

  • Events that combine creativity, engineering skills, and collaboration.
  • Interactive events with industry professionals and professors.
  • Presentations and workshops on academic and campus involvement, career exploration, resume building, and interviewing.

Registration

To register, you must complete the Engineering LLC Registration. Indicating on your residence life contract that you want to be in the Engineering LLC is not enrollment in the LLC.

Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and include an additional LLC fee of $100 for the year that will be added to your PASS account. Single rooms are not allowed in the LLC unless there is an approved medical request.

Registration closes once the LLC is full. You will not be assigned a room in the Engineering LLC until your Residence Life Contract is complete. For questions about Residence Life, email reslife@uwplatt.edu. For questions about the LLC, email engineeringllc@uwplatt.edu.

Students are expected to enroll in a course called UWP STUDY 2800: Introduction to Prototyping. This hands-on one credit, eight-week course is designed to help introduce students to the prototyping and design process. The course is held in the Huff Family Innovation Center.
