UW-Platteville named one of nation's top online universities

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville online programs have earned national recognition once again. This month, the university was named one of the 50 Top Online Colleges by CollegeValuesOnline.com.

College Values Online ranked each university on a points system based on return on investment, tuition cost, scholarship opportunities and accelerated program availability. UW-Platteville earned the fifth-highest score at 14 points, tying fellow in-state school, the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

"I appreciate this recognition and am proud of the work we have done," said Carolyn Keller, assistant provost of graduate programs, assessment, teaching and distance learning. "Because we've been at this for nearly three decades, we have honed our skill, committed to continuous improvement, and generated creative and engaging learning opportunities for students at all levels. As a result, we have a unique and solid infrastructure that provides continuity in the student learning experience that has proven successful for traditional and adult learners alike time and time again."

The university, which was the first in the state to offer online degrees, features associate, bachelor's, master's and certificate programs. All are backed by 150 years of academic excellence fostered by the brick-and-mortar campus. The university's focus is to offer flexible, career-relevant programs designed to impart the skills and knowledge students need to achieve their career goals.

"Our programs allow new, continuing and returning students to engage in practical, applied courses that can help them improve their knowledgebase and increase their skill set in their current and desired professions," Keller adds. We have committed faculty combined with support services designed especially for online students that help our students achieve their goals."

UW-Platteville has made a commitment to offering affordable degrees. As a result, the university ranks first in Wisconsin for return on investment, and the online programs have repeatedly earned recognition as some of the best values in the country. In addition, a plethora of scholarship options helps reduce tuition costs even further for many distance students.

The university also offers 16 graduate and undergraduate certificate programs.
