Graduate

To be eligible for admission in full standing, a student must have an overall undergraduate grade point average of 2.75 or above; or 2.90 on the last 60 credits from the degree-granting institution. Students not meeting those requirements, or who possess a bachelor’s degree in a non-related field, but who meet one of the requirements listed below may be considered for full standing through an extended review of their application material.

• Graduate course work with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Undergraduate degree GPA of 2.50 to 2.75
• Bachelor's degree earned more than five years before date of application

Students who do not qualify for admission in full standing may be admitted on probation. Probation admission status is to be used only in extraordinary cases. Admission on probation must be justified by the admitting department and approved by the Provost Office Designee.

If you earned your bachelor’s degree outside the United States, you must request that your academic records (called transcripts in the U.S.) that confirm your secondary and university education. These records must be mailed directly to UW-Platteville from the issuing institution. Academic records must be submitted in the original language along with a certified English translation.

All academic records should include dates of attendance, level of study, subjects, leaving remarks or grades, rank in class (if possible), and the grading system used. Exams, test results, certificates, diplomas, and degrees earned should all be listed.

Any records received become a part of your permanent student record at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and cannot be released. International transcripts are subject to a course-by-course evaluation. UW-Platteville has approved One Earth, Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE), World Education Services (WES), or SpanTran to complete this evaluation. Official transcripts/academic records are required to complete the evaluation.

If you attended a school outside the United States, follow these procedures:

1. Request official transcript(s) from the institution(s) where you earned your degree(s), including a translated copy if your transcript is not in English. Neither UW-Platteville, ECE, One Earth, WES, or SpanTran provide translation services. You are responsible for providing a translated copy of your transcript.
2. Go to One Earth, ECE, WES, or SpanTran and click Apply Now. Use Course by Course for your report option.
3. Pay all fees associated with setting up an account.

In addition to filing the standard application for admission with official transcript(s) translated in English, you must provide a copy of your Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL® Test) score to UW-Platteville. As an alternative, you may submit a scoring report from the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Program admission requires a band-level score of 6.5 or higher with a minimum of 6.0 in each sub score.

An Official TOEFL Score that meets one of the following minimum requirements:

International students may request a waiver of the TOEFL requirement by submitting acceptable justification. If you are from an English-speaking country, you may not need to provide proof of English proficiency. The waiver request should include your name, daytime phone number, and desired program of study. Transferring from an institution from within the United States, you may be excused from the TOEFL if you have demonstrated competence in English through coursework and earned a grade of “B” or higher in English composition courses and speech courses.

If you are an enrolled student at the UW-Madison English as a Second Language Program or Wisconsin English as a Second Language Institute, you may also be able to waive the English proficiency requirements.

Additional Requirements for an on campus graduate program:

• UW-Platteville International Student Transfer Clearance Form (if transferring from a U.S. institution)
• F-2 Dependent Application form and Financial Certification form (if your spouse and children will be living with you in the U.S.)

Requires a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Additionally, applicants must have two semesters of college-level lab coursework in biology and/or chemistry. Applicants must provide two letters of recommendation and a personal statement.

Requires a purpose and goals statement to be submitted with application. This information can be written in the "essay" section of the application.

Requires a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Coursework in computer science with a programming emphasis and a calculus or statistics course is required. Applications must provide two letters of recommendation and a personal statement.

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.

Requires a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Additionally, coursework in elementary statistics, medical terminology, and oral communication/public speaking is required. Applicants must provide two letters of recommendation and a personal statement.

Requires a bachelor's degree in business administration, industrial technology management, industrial engineering, or a related field from a regionally or nationally accredited institution OR a baccalaureate degree (not identified above) from a regionally or nationally accredited institution and demonstrate extensive experience in one of the areas of emphasis.
