Follow these steps to ensure your place in the upcoming class:

Step 1:  Apply for your I-20 through your PASS Account

Step 2:  Accept your Admission

Step 3: Apply for Scholarships

  • Complete the scholarship applications.
  • New students may apply for the Kathryn Mykel Conger Scholarship and the Tuition Remission.
  • Questions about scholarships and remissions may be directed to isss@uwplatt.edu

Step 4:  Download your I-20 from PASS

  • This will become available after you have completed Step 1 and after International Programs staff have reviewed your information.

Step 5:  Reserve your Residence Hall Room

  • Visit Room Selection to learn how to apply for housing and to submit the residence life e-contract and prepayment or the request for exemption.
  • The $150 prepayment will be applied to your first semester bill and $100 is refundable if you cancel by May 1 for the fall semester and December 1 for the spring semester.
  • This will appear in your PASS account under the To Do’s section after you’ve been issued your I-20.

Step 6:  Log into your new UW-Platteville email account

  • In approximately March/April (students entering in the fall term) or October/November (students entering in the spring term), you will receive emails that tell you how to log into your new uwplatt.edu email account. This is important! You will also learn more about math and English placement testing, which must be completed before you are able to register for courses.

Step 7:  Sign up and Complete English and Mathematics Placement Exams

  • All incoming students are required to take an English placement exam. Results from these exams are utilized by your academic advisor to accurately place you in a variety of courses. The English Placement Exam is different than the English proficiency exams you may have supplied for your application for admission.
  • Information about these exams can be found in your PASS account. View additional information about these exams for new freshman and transfer students.

Step 8:  Inform the International Programs Office of your Visa approval

  • Email isss@uwplatt.edu with your updated visa information.
  • This step is necessary to complete before you will be able to attend an academic advising session and register for classes.

Step 9: Meet with your Advisor and Register for Classes

  • This information is sent to you through your uwplatt.edu email account.

Step 10: Attend On-Campus International Student Orientation

  • This exciting event is held approximately two-weeks prior to the start of the academic term.
  • The International Programs Office will send details to your email, including the required sign-up for airport pickup at Chicago O’Hare airport.
