Empower - Support - Promote

The University of Wisconsin Women in Criminal Justice Mentoring Program empowers women to seek careers in Criminal Justice, supports their education and career path, and promotes equity and diversity in the criminal justice system.

Our program provides students with mentors from multiple agencies at the federal, state, and local levels and is the result of a unique collaboration between the UW-Madison Center for Law, Society, and Justice; UW-Platteville Department of Criminal Justice and Social Sciences; and Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation.

Participation & Commitment

Both students and mentors can customize their level of involvement—from a single conversation to a full academic year of engagement. Program advisors will provide guidance and support throughout.

Student Experience

Students will be invited to join a dedicated Canvas course that guides them through the mentoring journey. The course includes:

  • Tools for building strong mentor relationships
  • Career resources and professional development content
  • Regular check-ins with UW-Madison and UW-Platteville advisors
  • Flexible engagement options—from quick Q&A to year-long mentorship
