At UW-Platteville, we strive to make the transition to college as seamless as possible. During your Orientation as part of the New Student Experience, we will introduce you to all the tools, knowledge, and support you’ll need for the semester ahead.
During Orientation, you will:
- Connect with members of your campus community, including other incoming students, current students, faculty, and staff.
- Learn about university policies, procedures, and processes.
- Gain access to resources that will support your success in your first semester and through graduation.
- Engage with campus life and UW-Platteville culture.

Orientation and Engagement Activities
As part of their virtual orientation to UW-Platteville, students will complete weekly Checkpoints in their New Student Experience Canvas course as they review information about important resources at their campus.
When a student completes their Checkpoints during the week they were released, they will be entered into the Weekly Winner drawing.
Any time they complete a Checkpoint, they will also be entered into the Grand Prize drawing. Three Grand Prize winners will be selected for their choice of $500 on their Campus Card or $500 as a Residence Life credit.

Join us for an optional, in-person experience for first-year students! The event will include presentations from campus departments and opportunities for new students to explore campus and make connections with other new students!
Choose one day to attend during the week of July 19-23, 2021. Register today as space is limited!

Students are encouraged to bring up to two guests to accompany them.
Please note: Lunch for students will be included as part of their experience. Guests are encouraged to purchase lunch at Stations in Bridgeway Commons at a special visitor rate or to patronize one of downtown Platteville’s restaurants.

Discover Academics is a series of virtual live sessions to connect students with faculty and learn more about classes and specific majors at UW-Platteville. These sessions will take place the weeks of July 12 and July 26.
Wondering what to expect in your classes this fall? Want to meet faculty in your major? Interested in learning about other majors? Discover Academics is the place for you.
Attend sessions with faculty from many majors and areas of study. Some of sessions include, “So You Want to be an Ethical Hacker?”, “Discover Criminal Justice and Career Opportunities in the Field,” and “Education for All”, a series about General Education courses. Many more sessions are planned, so check out the information in the NSE Canvas course!
All sessions will be held over Zoom and will last 45 minutes each. More information will be added to the New Student Experience Canvas course soon, including the schedule, session descriptions, and Zoom links.

Come learn about the Platteville Academic Edge in the classroom! Hear our alumni’s stories about their hands-on learning experiences, working with professors, utilizing our labs and classrooms, and how they think it better helped them prepare to enter the workforce.
- Finding Your Network: July 21, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Being a UW-Platteville student makes you a part of many wonderful networks…some of which you may not even realize! These networks can include fellow students, faculty, alumni, employers, and more! Listen and learn from UW-Platteville Alumni about how they best utilized these networks while they were current students and even after they graduated.
- College Experience: July 28, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Education will always be our priority here at UW-Platteville, but getting involved and having fun are also vital parts of your experience! Listen to Alumni share some of their favorite extracurricular opportunities.
Campus Clubs Fair: August 10 and August 11, 7-8 p.m.
Join us for virtual sessions to learn about some of the exciting clubs offered at all three of our campuses! We offer a wide array of academic and leisure clubs. With over 200 different clubs, we have something for everyone. Connect with current members of some of our campus clubs and get ready to get involved!
