At the Cyber Defense workshops, you will learn key cybersecurity concepts through hands-on activities such as capture-the-flag games. You will learn how hackers crack passwords and exploit vulnerabilities in various computer systems to steal valuable information, and various cybersecurity defense strategies including how to protect yourself, your computers, and your network.

Open to students entering grades 9-12. 

  • There are no pre-requisite courses or experiences required for this workshop. If you can turn on a computer, you are ready for this workshop. Be prepared to invest time and energy as you learn how to code. You can expect to work collaboratively with others.
  • Participants may choose to stay in campus residence halls or commute daily.

Daily Schedule

  • 6:30–9 a.m. Morning routine and breakfast 
  • 9–11:30 a.m. Morning workshop
  • 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Lunch
  • 12:30–3:30 p.m. Afternoon workshop
  • 3:30–4:30 p.m. Supervised computer free time 
  • 4:30–5:30 p.m. Dinner
  • 5:30–7 p.m. Planned activities and events
  • 7–9:30 p.m. Supervised social, game and free time

Cost for Commuters $100

  • 8:30–8:50 a.m. daily drop-off time
  • 3–3:30 p.m. daily pick-up time
  • Lunch provided

Cost for Full College Experience $300

  • Drop-off on Monday between 7:30–8:30 a.m. (no breakfast provided first day)
  • Pick-up Friday between 3–3:30 p.m.
  • Supervised as resident (with roommate) in the airconditioned Bridgeway Commons
  • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided (except no breakfast on Monday)
  • Evening programming/social activities provided (game systems and portable computing devices welcome)

A $50 deposit is required at registration.
