University of Wisconsin-Platteville Police Department maintains a safe and secure environment for you to learn, work, and grow personally, while aiding a culturally enriched and diverse college population. An officer is on-duty 24 hours a day.

All 911 calls are dispatched through the Platteville Police Department or the Grant County Sheriff’s Department. UW-Platteville police are dispatched to all 911 calls originating on campus property.

Lost Property
University Police provides the campus community with a Lost Property Form for student, staff, faculty, and guests to report lost items. The form will be sent automatically to many lost and found locations on campus and you will be contacted if we locate the item.
Open Records Request
Under state law, records generated by the UW–Platteville Police Department may be subject to release. All open records requests should be made through the UW-Platteville Police Department.
Generally, the UW-Platteville Police Department will accept release of information requests between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Monday – Friday). Any form of communication for the request is acceptable, but it is preferred that Requests be submitted online using our Open Records Request form.
PLEASE NOTE: Police reports can be requested AFTER an initial appearance has happened within that case. Police reports include all documents, video, audio, or any documentation related to your case. Try to be as specific as possible in your request. The department processes and releases all records in a reasonable and timely manner, in compliance with the State of Wisconsin’s open records laws. We will notify the requester when the request has been completed.
Filing a Complaint
The UW–Platteville Police Department takes complaints against our officers very seriously. If you have a complaint against a UWPPD officer or staff member, please fill out the complaint form, contained in this link. A supervisor will follow-up with you once you submit the form. Please note fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required and cannot be left blank.
PLEASE NOTE: this form is ONLY to be used for personnel complaints related to the actions of police officers employed by the UW–Platteville Police Department.
