STEM Living Learning Community
The STEM Living Learning Community is a residential community for first-year students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Located in Dobson Hall, the STEM LLC brings together students with shared academic interests to create a supportive environment where they can live, learn, and grow during their first year at UW–Platteville.
Living alongside other STEM students provides opportunities to form study groups, build lasting friendships, and engage with faculty, staff, and industry professionals. Through a combination of academic, professional, and social experiences, students develop meaningful connections while successfully transitioning to college life.
Throughout the year, STEM LLC residents participate in hands-on STEM activities, career exploration workshops, professional development events and networking opportunities, collaborative learning experiences, and community-building programs. These experiences help students strengthen their academic skills, explore career pathways, and become active members of the UW-Platteville STEM community.

Students who start in the spring term can become a member if there are openings. If you are starting in the spring, please email us at stemllc@uwplatt.edu to express your interest before filling out the registration.
Roommate Requests
Members can select their roommate. Roommate requests can only be accommodated if both individuals request each other and register before the STEM LLC reaches capacity. To maximize the likelihood of being placed together, roommates are encouraged to complete registration on the same day.
Single rooms are not permitted within the LLC unless approved through a documented medical accommodation request. Accommodation requests must be submitted before the LLC reaches capacity to the Residence Life and the STEM LLC emails.
Registration
The STEM LLC is housed in designated wings on the second and third floors of Dobson Hall. Students may select the housing option in which they feel most comfortable. All STEM LLC programs, events, and opportunities are open to every member of the community, creating a connected and collaborative experience for all residents.
Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. To be assigned to the STEM LLC, you must complete both of the following steps:
- Submit your Residence Life contract through PASS and select STEM LLC and Dobson Hall as your housing preference. If you have already submitted your contract, you can update your housing preference in PASS or contact reslife@uwplatt.edu.
- Complete the STEM LLC registration form.
Registration Deadline
Registration closes on May 15 or when the STEM LLC is full, whichever occurs first. You will receive a confirmation email after registering, but we cannot assign you a room if you have not completed a Residence Life contract (step 1). For questions, email stemllc@uwplatt.edu.
Program Fee
A $100 fee helps support additional staffing, programming, and community-building activities. The fee will be charged through your PASS account with fall tuition.
If you decide not to participate in the STEM LLC or attend UW–Platteville, you must notify us by May 15 at stemllc@uwplatt.edu. Because LLC spaces are limited, students who withdraw after May 15 may still be responsible for the fee.
Fee waivers are available based on financial need. Email stemllc@uwplatt.edu to request an application.
