Program Description:

The iPeer Mentor Program is an academic support program to assist first and second year international students as they navigate the American Academic System. Through matching mentees with mentors (international or US students) of the same major or similar major international student mentees will have the opportunity to gain knowledge about specific courses (challenging courses, double counter), develop confidence in using PASS and academic resources, enhance organizational and time management skills, and overall implement successful study habits into their daily routine. Mentors will have the opportunity to develop leadership and interpersonal communication skills desired in today’s competitive workforce.

1-2 mentors will be matched with 1-2 international student mentees.

Eligibility:

Mentors must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and participate in a training through the International Student and Scholar Services office. Mentees must be in their 1st or 2nd year at UW-Platteville. Both mentors and mentees will be selected through an application process.

Requirements

The partners must meet for the minimum of one hour per week during the first half of the semester. During the second semester, students may meet for a minimum of one hour every two weeks. The participants will determine the time and location of the meetings.
