Fostering Success is a Universities of Wisconsin program that provides resources and support for students who have been in foster care, experienced housing insecurity, were orphaned, or were once wards of the court and are interested in pursuing higher education. This program connects you with the resources, community, and support you need to succeed.
What we offer
Students in Fostering Success have access to a wide range of services, including:
- Academic advising and coaching, financial literacy advisement, peer mentoring
- Community building activities
- Designated lounge and study space
- Opportunities to participate in social and cultural activities
- Short-term housing opportunities on academic breaks
- Meal and laundry cards, snacks, and non-perishable food items, school supplies, hygiene products, and free printing
- An opportunity to earn a stipend each semester
Who’s Eligible
You may qualify for Fostering Success if you:
- Were in foster care or a ward of the court after age 13
- Are in permanent legal guardianship (court-appointed, not with a parent)
- Are an emancipated minor
- Were orphaned and never adopted
- Have incarcerated parents or guardians
- Are unaccompanied and homeless; or self-supporting and at risk of homelessness
