Textbooks

At the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, we make distance education as convenient as possible. Obtaining materials before classes begin is required to ensure your success, and there are many delivery options to choose from.

You must have your textbooks before your online course starts. Textbook costs are not included in tuition and fees. Financial aid is not disbursed until after the start of classes, so you will have to pay for your textbooks out of pocket, and then reimburse yourself once your financial aid is disbursed.

The official textbook provider for UW-Platteville online courses is Barnes & Noble College. By ordering through Barnes & Noble College, you are guaranteed to have the correct book for your course, and, depending on the course, select from a variety of options including new, used, e-book, and rental textbooks. BNC also has a buyback program so you may have the opportunity to sell your books back at the end of the semester.

Order Your Textbooks

  1. Visit our Barnes & Noble College virtual bookstore.
  2. Click on the Let's Get Started button.
  3. Select the term from the drop-down menu.
  4. Select your courses. Click View Your Materials.
  5. View the required books and ordering options.

For select titles within the Barnes & Noble College virtual bookstore, you will have a Marketplace Sellers ordering option. Or, you can order from another vendor. If you choose to place an order through marketplace, your order will be filled by another vendor, not Barnes & Noble College.

  • Before purchasing through Marketplace, we encourage you to review the information on the Barnes & Noble Direct Frequently Asked Questions.
  • You can order from a different vendor, but UW-Platteville isn't responsible for those purchases. This includes orders purchased through Marketplace.
  • To ensure that you purchase the correct textbook when using another vendor, search using the ISBN and verify the title, author, and edition. Do not order the international edition of your course textbook. It will not be compatible with your courses.
