Illinois and Iowa Advantage
The Tuition Advantage* provides a discount on out-of-state tuition for eligible new freshmen and transfer students from Illinois and Iowa, offered only at the Platteville campus.
To be considered eligible for the Tuition Advantage, you must:
- Meet admission guidelines for UW-Platteville as a new freshman or transfer student.
- Be a resident of Illinois or Iowa.
- Complete the application process checklist.
- Enroll as a full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate student.
No separate application is necessary. Residents of Illinois and Iowa are automatically reviewed for the Tuition Advantage upon applying for admission to the Platteville campus and notified with their admission decision.
Students may receive the Tuition Advantage rate for up to five years if enrolled as a full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate student and in good standing with the university. This program is not available to students enrolling at our Baraboo Sauk County campus, or for fully online programs.

UW-Platteville is conveniently located in the tri-state area, nestled in beautiful Southwest Wisconsin. It is just over a three hour drive from Chicago or Des Moines. If you live in western Illinois or eastern Iowa, UW-Platteville could be less than 30 minutes from home.
