Professional Experience
Professor Moiz started his academic acreer in 2001, when he accepted the Accounting Program Director's position with a major private university in Wisconsin. In 2006, he joined University of Wisconsin, Platteville, as an Assistant Professor. 

During his 20 years of academic experience, Moiz has taught courses in auditing, income tax, advanced financial accounting, intermediate accounting, advanced cost accounting, managerial accounting, financial statement analysis/business valuation, and accounting software. Besides teaching traditional on-campus classes, Moiz has taught courses on hybrid and online formats. He also has taught a course in Financial Management in China.

Before starting his academic career in 2001, Moiz worked in public accounting for over seven years and also worked for a top-tier multinational pharmaceutical company for five years.

Moiz is a member of Wisconsin CPA society, National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA) and International Council of Islamic Finance Educators (ICIFE)

His research interests include the areas of financial reporting and analysis, and interest-free banking and financing. In 2015, he used his sabbatical leave to visit four different countries and conduct research on the interest-free banking. Syed also provides consulting services to non-for-profit organizations.

Personal Information
Moiz is a frequent traveler and has been to 17 countries along with most of the states in the United States. His favorite trip was to Turkey in 2010 where he enjoyed visiting many historical places and delicious food. He is actively involved in his community and has been a speaker in interfaith dialogues, and served on the board of directors of two non-for-profit organizations. He also had been involved with VITA (volunteer income tax assistance) program in collaboration with the IRS. In this program, his students offered free tax preparation and filing services to low income and senior citizens. Moiz also is a founding member of a non-for-profit organization which was established to promote financial literacy among the citizens, especially from the low income and less educated members of our society.

Moiz is married with two children.
