Biographical Information

Connie SaLoutos Furlan is a member of the academic staff at the University of Wisconsin–Platteville.  She teaches public speaking and various courses in theatre.  She holds a masters’ degree in English and theatre education.  She has taught workshops, courses and been a guest lecturer at universities, studios, and theatres across the country.

She is a member of Actors’ Equity Association and has performed. choreographed, directed, and assistant directed in professional theatres across the country. Her award-winning one-woman cabaret act has literally taken her around the world three times aboard the vessels of Royal Viking and Seabourne Cruise Lines.  A three-time Carbonell Award recipient for her portrayals of Charity in Sweet Charity, Anita in West Side Story, and Maria in Lend Me A Tenor, Connie has garnered a total of ten acting nominations.  She has been nominated for Best Actress for her work as Young Belle in Little Me, Polly in Crazy For You,  Aldonza in Man of La Mancha and Keely in Pete ‘n Keely.   Connie played leading roles in the National Tours of Steel Pier (Rita Racine), The Goodbye Girl (Paula), and Moon Over Buffalo (Rosalind).  Favorite regional roles include Annie in Annie Get Your Gun, Roxie in Chicago, Molly in The Unsinkable Molly Brown, and Mame in Mame.  Connie appeared in the 25th Anniversary production of Dames At Sea in New York City starring Kristen Chenoweth and has been a guest soloist with the Florida Symphonic Pops.

Connie choreographed Guys and Dolls, The Secret Garden, Into the WoodsAnything GoesThoroughly Modern Millie, and Cabaret for the Pioneer Players at UW-Platteville.  She has also choreographed Fiddler on the Roof, Nunsense, Grease, The Music Man, The Producers, The Taffetas, and Beauty and The Beast for The Heartland Festival.  She won the Iowa Theatre Association’s Award of Excellence for her work on Little Shop of Horrors for The Grand Opera House.  Her work has recently been seen on the stages of Milwaukee Rep and the Marcus Center.
