Training is required to operate some equipment at the Huff Family Innovation Center. This can come in both the form of in-person training, as well as a validation of understanding through our online course through Canvas.

Dangerous equipment will require the completion of both trainings to be allowed to operate.

Training in person

  1. Sign into our member portal and navigate to in-person training.
  2. Select the equipment you would like to be trained on. Popular equipment will require that you sign up 12 hours beforehand. Otherwise, you can be trained upon request.
  3. Select a time slot that works best for you.
  4. Show up to training with proper safety protocol. These protocols include wearing short sleeves, closed shoes, no jewelry, etc.

Completing the online validation of understanding

  1. You will be added to our Canvas course after having entered the space for the first time.
  2. Navigate to this course either through our Member Portal via Online Trainings, or simply log into your existing Canvas account.
  3. The training portal will contain safety information for all primary equipment in the space. It will also include short quizzes that will need to be completed before being allowed to operate dangerous equipment independently.
  4. Complete the courses for the equipment you would like to use.

If you have additional questions, please view our member portal FAQ’s or contact us at hfic@uwplatt.edu.
