Gallery Talk with Artist Donna Van Bogaert

Join artist and UW-Platteville alumna Donna Van Bogaert for a gallery talk at Nohr Gallery while her exhibit "The Fiber Art of Donna Van Bogaert: Weaving Artist's Voice and Process" is on display. Van Bogaert’s interactive gallery talk explores the weight of our cognitive disposition, education, heritage, life experiences, and intuition on the design of a creative life, development of the artist’s voice, and influences on an individual’s creative process. Formed over nearly three-quarters of a century, she discusses how her farm background and undergrad experience at UW-Platteville informed early impressions of her identity as an artist while seeing the limitations in that label. And, how the study of art and psychology at UW-P was the springboard for future research in adult creativity and an eventual PhD in Cancer Communication with an emphasis in Cognitive Preferences.

The artist will share thoughts about the career choices that provided opportunities to develop her creative process. She will reflect on how her art has evolved and how her eclectic professional experiences (in television, business, higher education, the government, and international platforms) reflect the weaving of creative approaches from art to work and work to art. The current exhibition will be discussed as a manifestation of the journey finding  voice and creative process.
