Pioneer Pantry Open Hours
Pioneer Pantry, is a free on-campus pantry service at UW-Platteville that provides food and hygiene products to students experiencing food insecurity—a lack of consistent access to enough food for a healthy, active lifestyle. All currently enrolled students are eligible to use the pantry.
There’s no income verification or paperwork required. Students just need to bring their Campus Card and swipe it when they visit. This helps track visit numbers and peak usage times. Your personal information is protected and reported only in aggregate.
The pantry operates in a shopping-style format, allowing students to select the items they need. It is located at the northeast entrance of Glenview Commons (Door E5) and is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.
Students may visit once per week and are limited to one bag of items per visit. Bags are not provided, so please bring your own. Some high-demand items may have limits posted to ensure everyone has equal access.
Pioneer Pantry stocks a wide variety of items, including:
- Proteins (canned meats, beans, tuna, peanut butter)
- Grains (pasta, rice, cereal, bread)
- Fruits and vegetables (canned, dried, fresh)
- Convenience meals (soups, ravioli, etc.)
- Diet-specific options (vegetarian, gluten-friendly)
- Hygiene products (shampoo, toothpaste, period products)
Free period products are also available across campus restrooms through the Red Basket Project, with generous support from Kimberly-Clark. Look for red baskets in women’s and all-gender restrooms.
Pioneer Pantry is managed by a student organization and supported by dedicated volunteers. It also hosts donation drives, awareness events, and other opportunities for students to get involved.
If you need extra support, want to visit outside of regular hours, or are interested in donating or volunteering, email pioneerprovisions@uwplatt.edu.
Donations of unopened, non-perishable food items and hygiene products are accepted during pantry hours. Food donations up to one year past their expiration date are welcome as long as the packaging is intact and safe to consume. Monetary donations can also be made through the UW-Platteville Foundation.
