LAE Faculty Forum: Mechanisms of Eyewitness Suggestibility
Dr. Blair Braun, Assistant Professor of Psychology, presents "Mechanisms of Eyewitness Suggestibility: The Role of Causal Coherence and Complex Questions" in the final LAE Faculty Forum of the semester. Dr. Braun specializes investigating factors that exacerbate eyewitness suggestibility. One such factor is the explanatory role of the suggestion – witnesses are more likely to develop false memories for suggested misinformation that explains a consequential outcome. In addition, the use of complex, multifaceted questions, leads to a disproportionate increase in eyewitness suggestibility errors. In this forum, Dr. Braun will discuss both factors that influence eyewitness suggestibility and how those factors interact.
