(Past) The Case for Ethnic Studies and Women's and Gender Studies

The academic fields of Ethnic Studies and Women's and Gender Studies have recently been attacked by politicians and media figures with accusations of indoctrination and compelling students to hate the United States of America. However, these fields are recognized academic disciplines that challenge the historical assumptions about race, gender, sexuality, and religion and provide students with the tools to better understand the experiences of marginalized communities. This forum will discuss the histories of each field of research, their importance in education and social justice, and the challenges they face nationally. Presented by Dr. Dong Isbister and Dr. Frank King, Jr.
