(Past) 2023 Helios First-Year Speaker: Ashley C. Ford

First-year students are invited to attend this event, where Ashley C. Ford will read an excerpt from her book, speak about her college experiences, and answer questions.

Ford is the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir, Somebody’s Daughter, which steps into the world of growing up a poor Black girl in Indiana with a family fragmented by incarceration, exploring how isolating and complex such a childhood can be.

Students, be sure to ask your instructor if this is required or if it is for extra credit, and bring your campus ID.

This event is funded by the Helios Program for Integrated Liberal Arts and is co-sponsored by the Office of Enrollment and Student Success and the Office of the Provost.
