Here’s a list of some birding activities Barbara Duerksen has been involved with:
Member of the Wisconsin Society for Ornithology (WSO) since 1975
Volunteered as Youth Education Coordinator for the WSO for 12 years
Volunteer work doing USGS 25-mile roadside Breeding Bird Surveys from 1982 to 2015
Worked for the Wisconsin DNR doing breeding bird surveys 10 summers, along the Lower Wisconsin and at private lands involved with restoration programs
Gathered data for both iterations of the Wisconsin Breeding Bird Atlas
Ongoing – Richland County Coordinator of the Annual Midwest Crane Count (Int. Crane Foundation) since 1982
Instructor at Kickapoo Valley Reserve
Member of the Kickapoo Valley Reserve Bird and Nature Club
Participate in local Christmas Bird Counts and the winter Golden Eagle survey
Member of the Motmot Crew participating in the Great Wisconsin Birdathon
