Academic Assessment

Assessment is all of the systematic ways in which information is collected about student learning in order to improve that learning (Hanna and Dettmer 2004).

Assessment SHOULD be:

• Coordinated and comprehensive
• Shared and transparent
• Regular and systematic
• Student-centered and faculty-driven

Carolyn Keller’s role as Academic Assessment Director is to support all faculty in their assessment activities including:

• Workshops
• Consultation
• Providing resources, examples, best practices
• Accreditation Support
• Alignment and Reporting
