About UW-Platteville's Theatre Program
The theatre program of the Department of Performing and Visual Arts offers the theatre major and minors in theatre and musical theatre. Our ambitious six-production seasons offer opportunities for all students on the UW-Platteville campus to participate in theatrical production. Within the theatre major and minors, students receive instruction in acting, directing, voice, movement, stagecraft, design, theatre styles, history, critical theory, and dramatic literature. A student planning to teach may be certified through this program as a theatre specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Many non-majors elect theatre courses as part of their general education requirements. The majority of students who participate in productions at UW-Platteville are majoring in other fields. Theatre provides an excellent second major or minor for fields such as communication technology, English, business, education, engineering, and music.
