Professional Background

Dr. Paulo Yu is an assistant professor of the Mechanical and Industrial Department at University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He completed his bachelor’s and master’s in mechanical engineering from California State University Northridge in 2015 and 2018, and his doctoral studies in mechanical engineering from University of Idaho in 2022. His doctoral work focused on modal decomposition methods for application on complex fluid flows. Prior to joining to UW-Platteville, he spent three years as a post-doctoral researcher at University of Idaho. He worked on a field pilot studies of a patented wastewater treatment technology, which was designed for nutrient removal and recovery, and micropollutant destruction and removal. He also worked on biomimetic particle separations design for applications in healing algae impacted waters. Yu had taught courses in measurements and instrumentation and advanced engineering mathematics, and had advised multi-disciplinary capstone projects. Yu’s research explores the intersection of advance data analysis of both fundamental and applied fluid mechanics. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Physical Society (APS), and American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).
