About

Dr. Yang earned her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the school of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, her Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Tennessee Technological University, and her Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from North China Electric Power University.

Dr. Yang has more than 20 years academic and industrial experience in power engineering. She worked in ABB US Corporate Research Center first as a Scientist and then as a Principal Scientist before joining UW Platteville.

Her research interests include distribution system automation and management, bulk power system reliability assessment, the application of artificial intelligence in power system control, the application of microprocessor in power system measuring and communication. She has been actively working on smart grid technology development in recent years, major projects she had led and participated in include microgrid energy management system, voltage var control and optimization, distribution system state estimation, feeder automation, and outage management. She has published more than 40 technical papers, book chapters, and technical reports and holds multiple patents/patent applications.
