Biography

Professional Background

Dr. Singh earned his PhD in Industrial Engineering from Wichita State University. His research interests include applied optimization, scheduling and planning, simulation, and machine learning and reinforcement learning for operational decision-making, with applications in manufacturing, energy-conscious operations, service systems, and operational improvement. His research has been recognized with three first-place finishes at IEOM and IISE events, including the Airbus-sponsored Doctoral Dissertation Competition at the 2026 North American IEOM Conference and the IISE South Central Conference Research Poster Competition in both 2024 and 2025.

Dr. Singh has teaching experience across several core areas of Industrial and Systems Engineering, including operations research, data analytics, systems engineering and analysis, lean manufacturing, and engineering graphics. His teaching emphasizes learning by doing, with students applying engineering concepts through hands-on exercises, computational tools, practical case studies, and open-ended problem-solving activities. He strives to help students move beyond textbook problems by understanding how industrial engineering methods and principles can be used to evaluate alternatives, make informed decisions, and create value in manufacturing and service systems. He has also mentored undergraduate researchers, advised graduate projects, and contributed to curriculum development, assessment, and academic service. Through these efforts, he seeks to create an engaging learning environment that encourages curiosity, collaboration, experimentation, and the practical application of engineering knowledge.
