Biography
Rob Shepherd received a Bachelor of Science Degree from UW-Platteville and a Master of Music Degree from the State University of New York – Fredonia. He taught instrumental music in the public schools of Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin for 34 years. During that time his Concert Bands, Jazz Bands, and Marching Bands received many honors and awards. Many of his former students have gone on to careers in music as performers and/or teachers.
As a Saxophonist he studied with Dr. William Tietze at UW-Platteville, Dr. Laurence Wyman at SUNY-Fredonia, and for ten years at the summer workshops of world famous Saxophonist, Sigurd Rascher, with whose ensembles he has performed and recorded. He has a wide experience in a jazz performance as well with a large number of ensembles large and small.
He studied piano at UW-Platteville with Professor Emeritus Dr. Rosemary Clarke, and currently teaches courses in Piano Techniques, and collaborates as pianist with instrumental and vocal students.
