Biography
About
Dr. Safari-Shad earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in Control Systems and a minor in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He earned both his Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Oregon State University.
Dr. Safari-Shad's research interest lies in the areas of optimal robust control and fault detection. He has a U.S. patent no. 9.236.726 B2 on Stator Ground Fault Protection of Synchronous Generators. Prior to joining UW-Platteville he worked for K.N. Toosi University of Technology in Tehran, Iran, in the electrical engineering department. He also has held a consulting position with the Systems Protection Department at Alliant Energy Corporation since May 2001.
He is a Senior Member of IEEE and has been participating in the IEEE-PES Power System Relaying Committee (PSRC) meetings since 2014.
