Biography
Peter Naughton is a percussionist, composer, and educator. He is a versatile performer, specializing in keyboard literature, improvisation, and contemporary chamber music. He holds degrees from The University of Iowa (BM – 2014, DMA – 2020) and The University of Tennessee, Knoxville (MM – 2016).
Naughton's music is a rich blend of commercial and classical sensibilities. He has written extensively for solo marimba, steel pan, and percussion ensemble. Several of his works are published through Tapspace Publications and are regularly performed throughout the country, including performances at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. In May 2020, he released his first studio album SOUTHERN GOTHIC, an eclectic collection of original works which explore the intersection of composition and improvisation.
Naughton currently teaches percussion and music theory at The University of Wisconsin – Platteville. Since June 2016, he has served as a percussion faculty member for Birch Creek Music Performance Center in Door County, WI.
