Biography

About

Madelon Kohler-Busch is an Associate Professor of German who has taught at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville since 2011.  She received her doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  She teaches courses in German language acquisition, German Literature and Culture, and Phonetics. Other teaching interests include Indo-European Folk- and Fairytales. She also teaches for the MSEE Program in China. Her teaching is always informed by her research, which currently involves issues in environmental ethics and sustainability practices in Germany and the USA. Women and gendered space in medieval Germanic literatures; medieval cloister gardens to Bavarian farm gardens; refugees in Germany; and environmental and ecological culture in Germany are ongoing research topics. She regularly presents her scholarly research at the European Studies Conference, University of Nebraska, Omaha; the International Medieval Congress, University of Leeds, England; the Conference of the Association of Environmental Studies and Sciences, Lewis and Clark College, Oregon; and the Joint Annual Conference of the Association for the Study of Food and Society, Indiana University at Bloomington.
