Dr. Hu earned her PhD in English with an emphasis in English as a Second Language from Purdue University, and her Master of Arts in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics and Bachelor of Arts in English Education from Zhejiang University, China.
Dr. Hu’s research involves teaching English to speakers of other languages, bilingual education, world Englishes, English in China, and minority language maintenance. She currently serves on the Language and Policy editorial board.
Dr. Hu oversees the undergraduate Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages program at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. She also coordinates UW-Platteville’s Master of Science in English Education program, established in 2001 in collaboration with South Central University for Nationalities, Wuhan, China.
