Biography

About

Dr. Hollingsworth earned her EdD in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Language and Literacy from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. She is a licensed teacher in the state of Wisconsin with credentials as a reading teacher, teacher of English as a second language, and elementary/middle level education.

Dr. Hollingsworth's research interests include the impact of literacy skills and strategies on elementary students' reading. She is passionate about educational opportunities for students in rural areas and is excited to be a part of the School of Education's new rurally responsive elementary and middle level educational program, designed to train teachers for rural school placements. Prior to joining the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, she was an instructor at Clarke University. Her educational career began as an elementary teacher in Mesa, Arizona and Verona, Wisconsin.

Dr. Hollingsworth is a member of the Wisconsin State Reading Association and serves on the Pat Bricker Memorial Research Scholarship committee. She is also a member of the National Rural Education Association.
