Dr. Matthew J Fencl

Dr. Fencl earned his Doctorate of Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Louisiana-Monroe, his Master of Science in Physical Education (Adventure Education and Outdoor Pursuits emphasis) and his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and School Health Education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Dr. Fencl has been with the Baraboo/Sauk County campus since 2011 and previously served as the athletic director. His expertise is in personal fitness, adventure education and outdoor pursuits. He posses Exercise Physiology and Exercise in Medicine - Level II certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine and has presented at the Wisconsin Health and Physical Education Association. He has also published articles in a number of health/fitness-associated scholarly journals. Dr. Fencl also serves as the coordinator of the Master's of Science in Sport Administration program and teaches various courses within the program.

His other interests include spending time with his wife, Stephanie, and three daughters, Sidney, Taylor, and Kaylee, and participating in many sports and outdoor activities. He is an active fan of his beloved Wisconsin sports teams - Packers, Badgers, Brewers, Bucks, Pioneers, and UW-PBSC Fighting Spirts!
