About
Dr. Cox earned his PhD from Oregon State University where his research topic was numerical analysis of fluid dynamics and heat transfer during additive manufacturing of metals. His master's degree was earned at Portland State University where he measured the heat flux produced by actively transpiring plants for his thesis work. He earned his bachelor's degree from Brigham Young Univeristy.
Dr. Cox has spent more than 10 years in industry designing mechanical systems for energy efficient buildings including HVAC, plumbing, exhaust, solar hot water systems. He has consulted on the energy efficiency of buildings located around the world. He is an ASHRAE certified Building Energy Modeling Professional and has assessed the energy performance of hundreds of buildings.
His research interests include alternatives to traditional vapor compression air conditioning, reducing energy use in data center cooling, and numerical heat transfer.
