The Pioneer Undergraduate Research and Commodities Education (PURCE) Lab is a unique resource that gives UW-Platteville students the experience in commodities trading that employers are looking for. This active and dynamic commodities lab was created to stimulate undergraduate research in commodity trading concepts, by providing hands-on experience for the students. It also helps prepare the students to pass the national certification exams, which adds value to their portfolios, while enabling them to create solutions for real-world situations—especially in risk management. The lab is primarily used by students in the Agribusiness program specializing in commodity and price analysis, but it also benefits students in various other majors, helping them to understand commodity markets and gather research data.
