McGregor Hall

Welcome to McGregor Hall

McGregor Hall, named after past UWP president Duncan McGregor and built in 1961, accommodates approximately 162 men and 60 women. McGregor Hall, with its convenient location, offers many benefits to its residents. In addition to kitchenettes on each floor, a variety of other facilities such as a computer lounge, a conference room and recreation areas are provided throughout the hall to meet the needs of residents. McGregor Hall is equipped with an elevator, therefore students with physical mobility concerns will find it very accommodating out of the ten residence halls on campus. The first and second floors are reserved for upperclassmen only, therefore the majority of students living in McGregor are not freshmen. The residents of McGregor Hall are very supportive of the annual Luau sponsored by McGregor and Wilgus Halls every fall. McGregor staff as well as the Hall Council Executive Board also put on Duncan Diner every February.

From the Desk of the Resident Director

Hello McGregor Residents!

Hello March!

With March, comes a lot of exciting events happening in the hall and on campus. However, before highlighting those, remember to stay on top of your studies. I am sure many of you will have mid-terms, papers, and other projects that you have to complete within the next couple of weeks. Remember to put in the time NOW so you are not struggling to get out of the hole you’ve dug yourself into. It is always okay to ask for a little help. Your RAs and I are here for you. Don’t forget about all the other awesome resources that campus can provide as well. Check out additional resources on the Academic Support Programs website!

Spring Break: This is always an exciting (and usually much needed) break! Spring Break this year runs from March 24th to April 2. Make sure you are practicing healthy and safe behaviors over your break. Whether you are staying here on campus, heading home, or heading for a beach, make sure that you put yourself in a position to come back and finish the semester strong!

Summer Hall & Summer Storage: Coming soon, look for information on summer housing as well as summer storage. Summer housing is a great option if you are staying in the Platteville area this summer to work or take classes. Summer storage is a great option if you are returning to the residence halls in the fall and do not want to take everything home with you this summer.

Class Drop & Registration: The last day to drop classes with a “W” (withdrawal) noted on your transcripts is March 16, 2018. Class registration for the fall 2018 semester will be here before we know it. Make sure you are logging into PASS to learn your registrations date, and that you are setting up a time with your advisor to get your Advising PIN. More info can be found here on the Registrar’s website.

Room Reservation: Make sure that you are reserving your room for next school year, fall 2018! If you have any questions, please come and see me or check out additional information on the Residence Life website.

Safety Tip of the Month: As we approach spring, inclement weather will become more common. Be sure to remain aware of potential for severe weather. In the case of severe weather, be sure to seek out appropriate shelter in your hall. Avoid windows and do not go outside to storm watch.

As always, please do not hesitate to stop by my office, located by the front desk of McGregor Hall.

Have a great semester and I will see you around!
