UW-Platteville seniors selected to handle social media for Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation conference

The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation has selected two UW-Platteville seniors to provide social media coverage of the organization's annual conference.

The organization announced Thursday that Brooke Mallek and Cassidy Finke will make up half of a four-student social media team that will cover the WFBF Annual Meeting & YFA Conference in December. The team will gain hands-on experience covering an event and will have opportunities to develop their writing and photography skills.

Mallek is studying agricultural education and is involved in the UW-Platteville Collegiate Farm Bureau and Agriculture Ambassador program. She also serves as vice president of the Agriculture Education Society and owns Grace Mae Photography LLC. She's held internships with Gather Wisconsin, Wisconsin FFA and the Wisconsin Association of Agricultural Educators.

Finke is studying animal science with a pre-veterinary emphasis. She's also an agriculture ambassador, co- chair of the Pre-Veterinary Club Symposium, a Women in STEM peer mentor and a member of the Agricultural Women's Association, Collegiate Farm Bureau and Pioneer Dairy Club.

The other members of the social media team include Amalia Draxler, a fourth-year agriculture student at UW-Madison, and Hannah Yeager, a sophomore studying animal science at UW-River Falls.

The WFBF conference brings together farmers, agriculture business professionals and supports to discuss issues facing the agricultural sector and develop policy. The conference is set for Dec. 4-7 at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells.
