The University of Wisconsin-Platteville is proud to announce its recognition as a 2025–2026 College of Distinction, a prestigious honor that highlights its unwavering commitment to providing an exceptional undergraduate education. The award reflects UW-Platteville’s dedication to hands-on learning, strong student-faculty relationships, an active campus community and outstanding student outcomes.
In addition to being named a College of Distinction, UW-Platteville received separate program-specific recognitions for its undergraduate degrees in business, education and engineering — a testament to the university’s academic excellence in these fields. The university is also honored as a 2025-2026 Affordable College of Distinction. This national recognition highlights institutions that combine low net costs with strong student outcomes, ensuring real value for today’s students.
"This recognition reaffirms what we at UW-Platteville already know: this is a truly special place,” said UW-Platteville Chancellor Tammy Evetovich. “Our faculty and staff go above and beyond to create an environment where students are challenged, supported and prepared for success.”
Founded in 2000, Colleges of Distinction recognizes schools that implement high-impact educational practices and experiential learning. Unlike traditional ranking systems based on numerical data, its rigorous selection process involves extensive research and in-depth interviews, accepting only those institutions that meet the Four Distinctions: Engaged Students, Great Teaching, Vibrant Community and Successful Outcomes. UW-Platteville has demonstrated exceptional performance in each area, providing students with a supportive and enriching educational experience.
“A college degree opens the door to many opportunities,” said Tyson Schritter, Chief Operating Officer at Colleges of Distinction. “But a truly worthwhile education prepares students to thrive once they walk through that door. UW-Platteville’s curriculum encourages meaningful student-faculty collaboration through experiential learning that is relevant and applicable to the real world.”
