UW-Platteville and Madison College formalize three agreements

In a move that will benefit students from both institutions, Madison College and UW-Platteville signed three partnership agreements today that will provide clear pathways and transfer opportunities in the areas of engineering, biotechnology and veterinary technician.

A key component of the agreement recognizes Madison College as an official site for the UW-Platteville Engineering Partnerships (PEP) program.

“The agreement to have Madison College serve as an engineering partnership site provides our Liberal Arts Transfer students access to ABET-accredited bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering without having to relocate to Platteville,” said Todd Stebbins, dean of Madison College’s School of Arts and Sciences. “The program is especially designed for working adults and place-bound students who otherwise would not be able to complete a bachelor’s degree in engineering.”

The agreements also allow students who complete Madison College’s Biotechnology Technician program to transfer to a biology major at UW-Platteville, students who complete Madison College’s Veterinary Technician program to transfer to an animal science degree at UW-Platteville and students in UW-Platteville’s Animal Science bachelor’s degree program to earn a Veterinary Technician Associate Degree from Madison College.

“One of the goals of UW-Platteville's 2019-24 Strategic Plan is to foster transformational education, which includes expanding the delivery of our programs in collaborative methods,” said UW-Platteville Chancellor Dennis J. Shields. “By teaming with Madison College in the fields of biotechnology, veterinary technician and engineering, we will enable even more opportunities for students in southern Wisconsin.”

The new agreements take effect immediately.
