Parker selected to AASCU Emerging Leadership Program

Dr. Philip Parker

Dr. Philip Parker, associate dean of University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science, is one of 35 higher education professionals from around the nation selected for the American Association of State Colleges and Universities’ 2021 Emerging Leaders Program.

“I consider it an honor to be selected to this program,” said Parker. “Continuing success depends partly on continuing education, and I look forward to learning and putting into practice all that this program offers.”

Parker obtained his bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in civil and environmental engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. He joined UW-Platteville in 1998 and has taken on numerous roles for more than 22 years, educating both students and faculty on the importance of civil and environmental engineering and providing support to the College of EMS, specifically in the areas of external relations, research initiatives, continuing education, professional development, online course development and strategic planning. He will become acting dean of the College of EMS on June 15.

The American Association of State Colleges and Universities created the leadership development program in 2015 to prepare early-to-mid career academic and administrative staff to advance to administrative roles with greater responsibility and oversight.
