The University of Wisconsin-Platteville band program is dedicated to stimulating musical growth and providing a comprehensive education to prepare aspiring teachers and performers. The bands provide avocational opportunities for students majoring in disciplines other than music; promote and sustain the proud musical heritage of wind and percussion literature; offer personal rich and unique social contacts; and serve the university from the football field to the concert stage. The UW-Platteville bands are open to both music majors and non-music majors.
Recorded auditions and chair placements are to be submitted online via CANVAS prior to the start of the school year. If students are unable to submit a recording, there will be an opportunity for face-to-face auditions during the first week of classes. Ensemble necessary to submit audition for placement: SYMPHONIC WIND ENSEMBLE. Ensembles necessary to submit chair placement: SYMPHONY BAND, UNIVERSITY BAND, STRING PLAYERS for ORCHESTRA. Wind and percussion players will be individually selected by the studio teachers to participate in the orchestra. Symphonic Wind Ensemble
The Symphonic Wind Ensemble is the premier wind group of the UW-Platteville music program and consists of the finest wind and percussion players at the university.
The UW-Platteville Symphony Band is a group of talented musicians who provide performances of artistic merit for the benefit of the university and the Southwestern Wisconsin community.
The membership of University Band is comprised of non-music majors and music majors learning and performing side by side.
With as many as 10 annual field shows, parades, and concert performances combined, the Marching Pioneers are seen by 70,000 people, making it one of the most visible and vital organizations on campus.
