UW-Platteville Richland will hold a special celebration event, Friday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m., to include all campus graduates who missed out on in-person recognition at the campus since 2020, alongside other end-of-year awards and local congratulations to the class of 2022.
“Once it was clear we would have the ability to safely hold an in-person celebration of our graduates again, it was also clear we needed to bring everyone together and recognize the extraordinary work that students needed to put in to complete their degree under the constraints of the past two years,” said Dr. Michael Compton, assistant provost for branch campuses at UW-Platteville and the senior leader for the Richland branch campus. “It will be wonderful to see students and their families and supporters on campus, honoring their achievements.”
Students are also invited to a formal commencement ceremony on May 14 in Platteville that recognizes all spring 2022 graduates, along with returning graduates from spring 2020, summer 2020, fall 2020 and spring 2021. The celebration at the Richland campus will make it easiest for local students and their loved ones to gather together at their local campus and celebrate with the faculty and staff who taught and supported those students throughout the last two years.
In addition to recognizing graduates, the campus will also acknowledge and thank scholarship recipients and donors, announce other campus awards to students and staff, and bring the campus together to reflect on the challenges the campus community has faced since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Jason Schulte, who serves as Student Life and Activities Coordinator for the Richland campus, said, “We’ve missed sharing those moments of support and congratulations, and I’m very glad we’ll be able to do that again.”
Graduated students will receive invitations and notices from the campus and should RSVP with their number of guests and other requested information at go.uwplatt.edu/rlnrecog2022.
