
UW-Platteville’s Mathematics Department is hosting the annual conference of the Wisconsin Section of the Mathematical Association of America on April 4-5. The Mathematical Association of America is a national professional organization with a specific focus on teaching and learning.
This year's meeting will be attended by about 100 participants, including more than a dozen UW-Platteville students.
The two-day meeting will include:
- Three invited addresses [speaker info].
- 30 contributed talks.
- Face Off!, the mathematical game show [game info].
- Presentation of the Section's Distinguished Teaching Award, given to a mathematician at a Wisconsin college/university.
- Presentation of the Section's Outstanding Mathematics Teacher Award, given to pre-college teachers of mathematics. This year's winners:

- Cynthia Nothem '07, Mineral Point HS
- John Sponsler, Platteville HS
- Nicholas Van Epps, Riverdale Jr. & Sr. High School (Muscoda)
- A special panel discussion for members of Section NExT-WI, the Wisconsin Section's professional development program in support of new faculty.
