UW-Platteville external relations director Platt-Gibson named to Wisconsin Women in Government board
UW-Platteville's communications director has been selected to serve on the Wisconsin Women in Government board, where she'll work to strengthen public service and create leadership opportunities for women.
WWIG announced Thursday that UW-Platteville External Relations and Communications Director Melanie Platt-Gibson is among eight women selected to serve on the group's 2026-2027 board. Platt-Gibson has more than 20 years of experience in strategic communications, external relations and partnership development across a diverse range of sectors, including higher education and government.
"I am honored to be part of this outstanding program," Platt-Gibson said of WWIG. "I have long admired Wisconsin Women in Government's commitment to empowering women in public service. To be part of it is a wonderful way to give back. I look forward to contributing to its mission and working alongside this exceptional group of leaders."
Platt-Gibson joined UW-Platteville in March after serving as development director for Sauk County. She also has worked as branch campus community director for UW-Platteville Baraboo Sauk County and UW-Platteville Richland. Her duties in both positions included community engagement, donor relations and student recruitment.
WWIG is a statewide, bipartisan nonprofit organization that brings together women working across government, public service and related fields. Founded in 1987, WWIG works to create opportunities for women to build relationships and leadership skills. The organization also invests in future generations through scholarships, professional development, mentorships and networking.
Other members of the board include Wisconsin Women's Council Executive Director Jeanne Duffy; Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Deputy Legislative Director Julia Halopka; Milwaukee County Transit System Community and Internal Communications Director Bitu Hamda; Anna Mercer, constituent services and proclamations director in Gov. Tony Evers' office; Amy Moreland, Evers' policy advisor and deputy director of constituent services and proclamations; and Wisconsin Technical College System Policy Advisor Megan Stritchko.
