UW-Platteville to celebrate graduating students at 211th commencement

UW-Platteville past graduation ceremony

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville will hold its 211th commencement on Saturday, Dec. 16. The College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture ceremony starts at 9 a.m.; the College of Liberal Arts and Education and associate degree candidates will be recognized at 12:30 p.m.; and the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science ceremony begins at 4 p.m. UW-Platteville’s chancellor, Dr. Tammy Evetovich, will preside over all commencement ceremonies which will take place in Williams Fieldhouse.

Joseph Denk, a 1982 UW-Platteville graduate who serves as chair on the UW-Platteville Foundation Board of Directors and is a retired television vice president, will deliver the commencement address for the College of BILSA ceremony. The senior speaker address will be delivered by Rebekah Poh, a professional sales major from Crivitz, Wisconsin. Dr. George Krueger, professor of marketing, will serve as the ceremony’s marshal. The valedictorian is Jeffrey Smolinski.

Nnenna Ogwo, founder and artistic director of Juneteenth LP, will deliver the commencement address for the College of LAE, which includes associate degree candidates. Aalyah Sahraoui, an environmental science and conservation major and SRES and geography minor from Tunis, Tunisia, will deliver the senior speaker address. Dr. Ann Farrelly, professor of theater and theater program coordinator, is the ceremony’s marshal. The valedictorians are Mindy Schmidt and Shea Mineau.

Tammy Salmon-Stephens will deliver the commencement address for the College of EMS ceremony. A UW-Platteville alumna, Salmon-Stephens has worked at UW-Platteville since 1997 and is the director of the College of EMS Student Success Programs. The senior speaker is Christopher Black, an industrial engineering major and computer science minor, from Shawano, Wisconsin. Dr. Samuel Owusu-Ababio, professor of civil engineering, will serve as the ceremony’s marshal. The valedictorian is Sydney Singer.
