UW-Platteville announces graduate-level credit for SHRM certificates

SHRM credit for credentials

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville announces it will now award graduate-level credits for certificates earned through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

The decision allows students who have a current SHRM Certified Professional or Senior Certified Professional certificate to receive three elective credits in the UW-Platteville Master’s of Science in Organizational Change Leadership (MSOCL) program. The certificates must be earned prior to admittance to the UW-Platteville MSOCL degree program.

“As the SHRM certifications continue to gain traction and recognition in professional circles, it is important to recognize that the necessary skillsets and critical thinking abilities are applicable in a master’s environment,” said Caryn Stanley, Program Coordinator for the M.S. Organizational Change Leadership program. “Allowing credit for the SHRM certifications will allow HR professionals to enter into a career-boosting, affordable master’s program with a bit of an edge.“

The Society for Human Resource Management is the largest professional human resource association in its field, boasting 300,000 members. SHRM promotes the role of human resources as a profession and provides education, certification, and networking opportunities.

The UW-Platteville M.S. Organizational Change Leadership program is uniquely designed for those seeking to drive positive innovation in the workplace. The curriculum is focused on teaching students to navigate the shifting dynamics of rapidly changing business environments. The program features four specialization tracks (healthcare, human resources, project management, and safety risk control), which allows students to customize the program to best fit their career needs.
